INSIDE THE SUPERSTAR'S HOTEL ROOM

After our sumptuos lunch at Ichebakama on 32nd St., we walked along Park Avenue en route to the Superstar's hotel. While we were walking, Ate Guy asked me if I remembered to bring the DVD's she was asking from me, I told her they're inside my backpack. When we got to the hotel, I saw that there's a DVD player inside the bedroom. I took a DVD and popped it into the player. As the disc played, I asked Ate Guy if she remembers which movie it was. It took her quite a while, she cannot remember the movie at all. I asked her Kilala mo po ba kung sino ang kasayaw ninyo?, the Superstar replied Ay oo! Si Lew! (Soratorio). Ate Guy asked me again, Ano'ng movie ito? I told her Basta po, panoorin ninyo. Before the credits rolled, she remembered and blurted out Ay, Roma Amor! Matagal ko nang hindi napapanood 'yan! She then continued and said Si Lito Lapid ang gumawa ng lahat ng stunts ko diyan sa pelikula. Hindi pa siya sikat noon! Ang linaw naman ng kopya mo. the Superstar told me. Saan mo nakuha 'yan? I replied and said Secret po! hindi po ako nagre-reveal ng source ko. Ate Guy also mentioned that she saw the movie's director Efren C. Pinon in L.A. recently. As we watched Roma Amor, she was suddenly saddened upon seeing his youngest brother Buboy (Eddie Villamayor), he played Pip's (Tirso Cruz III) brother in the film. Ate Guy also commented that the entire Villamayor family was all over the screen during the opening credit sequence. There were also several musical numbers in the movie. She mentioned that most of the songs she sang in the film were from her Superstar show. Ate Guy noticed that I was singing along and told her manager, General! Tingnan mo si Jojo, memoryado 'yung kanta. I said, Lahat naman po ng kanta ninyo sa pelikula, kabisado ko. It was very interesting listening to her stories. I gave her copies of movies which she produced under her own NV Productions. Aside from Roma Amor, I also gave Ate Guy copies of Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos, Alkitrang Dugo, Ibalik Ang Swerti!, Banaue, Annie Batungbakal, Tisoy!, Batu-Bato Sa Langit, Wanted Ded Or Alayb, Halimaw, Takot Ako Eh! and Tatlong Ina, Isang Anak.

That's the Superstar on the other bed while she was watching the movie.

Hi, Brod Jojo:

No doubt about it, you're the luckiest Noranian in the whole world. I can't imagine myself being that up close and personal with the living Legend herself.

Thanks for posting this; it adds another insight to the Superstar as a person.

Hey, when will you make my day with another e-mail? Sori ha, kulit talaga..

hi Paul James!

I always encourage Ate Guy to continue on doing what she does best. I also told her that she doesn't need unforgettable film projects, that she has to be more choosy with her next film role. Minsan, I asked her kung naniniwala siyang nagawa na niya ang lahat ng roles na pujwede niyang gampanan and she said she still has a lot more to offer and I honestly believe that. Let's just all be patient and wait for her next exciting endeavor.

Thanks a lot Jeremiah for all the kind words and wishes for Ate Guy... I'll make sure na makakarating sa kanya ang lahat ng sinabi mo. God Bles Noranians like you na hanggang ngayon ay walang tigil ang pagsuporta sa nag-iisang Superstar!

Isa ako a mga naniniwalang Ate Guy still has a lot more to offer. What she needs is the right project. It may be a digital film that will spark her interest. The Superstar was the first actress to ever star in an independent film. In 1976, she raised the money herself and produced films such as Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos and Alkitrang Dugo. Let's just wait, who knows one of these days, Nora Aunor will surprise us once more.

hello pauljames!

the last time i asked Ate Guy about Ingrata she told me they have one more shooting day left. i wasn't able to ask Bernardo Bernardo about it when he was here during the Showbiz Festival. they don't have a set date as to when the movie will be shown. regarding Care Home. i've heard that GMA is interested in acquiring it's rights for Philippine release but i'm not sure whether their negotiations pushed through. i'm a firm believer that with the right project, Nora Aunor will once again prove that she is still a force to reckon with.

jeremiah,

it's a well known fact that Ate Guy was the very first actress to gamble her own bankability and produced the projects that no movie producer would dare touch. proof of which was Carmela (1973). She hired Danny Holmsen, a resident director at Sampaguita and came up with a film that her mother studio won't produce. a perfect example would be the impcat that the late National Artist Gerry de Leon had on her while filming the Caridad episode of the omnibus Fe, Esperanza, Caridad that she personally aksed the great filmmaker to direct Banaue which she produced for her own NV Productions in 1975.
